About Us
I'm Kevin, and for nearly a decade, I’ve been helping students and families navigate the journey to and through college — not just to get in, but to stay in, thrive, and graduate.
I’ve spent my career in the college access and readiness space, working closely with students, parents, and educators across the St. Louis region. As the Director of an Upward Bound program, I prepare first-generation and income-eligible students for college — not just by helping them apply, but by helping them build the skills, confidence, and awareness they need to succeed once they get there.
I also serve as an adjunct professor at St. Louis Community College, where I teach Smart Start for College Success, a first-year transition course that helps students adjust to the academic and personal demands of college life. That work has deepened my belief that college readiness is about far more than grades and test scores. It’s about mindset. It’s about support. It’s about belonging.
In my research with my colleague Reman Jabar, we explored what college readiness really means to families — especially those whose voices are often left out of the conversation. Our article, The Unheard: What College Readiness Means to TRIO Parents, was published in the Opportunity Matters Journal and can be found here.
What we discovered confirmed what many parents already knew: getting into college is just the beginning. Staying in — and graduating — depends on whether students feel seen, supported, and connected once they arrive.
This is why my colleague and I created tools like the College Readiness Snapshot and the College Readiness Assessment. They help students and families understand the full picture of what it takes to succeed in college — not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and financially.
This insight has shaped everything we do. These tools are designed to spark conversations, surface needs, and match students with colleges that don’t just admit them — but support them.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: every student deserves a college experience that fits who they are and what they need. We are here to make that possible.
